ASIS Tampa Bay Supporting Vendors
Chairman's Report
April 2012
We are pleased to announce the creation of a new chairmanship within our Chapter. At the March Board
Meeting, Wayne Taylor proposed that we establish a new chair with the intent to attract and mentor young
professionals seeking opportunities within ASIS. Although some of the specifics of the program are yet to
be finalized, Wayne has agreed to be the first chairman of our Young Professionals Chair. With Gary Silverthorn
agreeing earlier this year to accept the position as our Military Liaison Chair, Chapter 30 has created
two new seats in 2012. We thank both Gary and Wayne for their commitment and dedication.
At our March Luncheon on the 15th, Sheriff Chris Nocco of the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office offered an
enlightening presentation on Intelligence‐led policing (ILP). This is a proactive initiative that the Sheriff has
undertaken in his county to target offenders, manage crime and “ hot spots”, conduct investigations linked
to more serious crimes and incidents, and apply preventive measures to stop recurring activities. We are
grateful to Sheriff Nocco for giving so freely of his time to share his vision and some of the recent success
that his Agency has experienced.
We are actively preparing for our annual Law Enforcement/Private Security Awards Luncheon on May
17th. Please refer to our website at www.asistampabay.org for more information. Also, please mark your
calendars for Thursday, April 19th, 2012 when Mr. George B. Cappy, ESQ, will be our luncheon speaker. Mr.
Cappy will be cover issues relating to worker’s compensation law and we are confident that you will find
the presentation both informative and valuable.
